ID/LX Framework

What It Is

The ID/LX Framework is a tiered approach to learning experience design. It grew out of 20 years in higher education and 28+ years as an entrepreneur, addressing a consistent pattern: experts who knew their subject matter deeply but couldn't create learning experiences that actually transferred skill.

The framework bridges academic theory (Experiential Learning Theory, 4MAT, adult developmental models) with practical implementation (business sustainability, audience reach, price point positioning).

The Tiered Structure

The framework uses progressive disclosure at its structural level:

• Overview tier — high-level principles and framing. For broad audience reach and introduction to the framework. What works, why it matters, the big picture.
• Application tier — practice, feedback, guided skill transfer. Where actual learning and behavior change begins.
• Mastery tier — deep integration with other frameworks, customization, and competitive advantage. Reserved for learners ready for the deepest work.

Each tier is designed to produce specific, measurable results. A well-designed overview tier doesn't promise what an application tier delivers — because they serve different purposes.

The Business Case

A program that only helps learners but bankrupts the expert isn't sustainable. A program that generates revenue but doesn't produce results destroys reputation. The tiered structure addresses both: experts can reach more people at lower price points, convert those who resonate into higher-tier engagements, and reserve the deepest work for those ready for mastery — all while maintaining the quality and results each tier promises.
